Technical Guide

We continuously update the data sheets and catalogs of the cables we manufacture.
We divide them into groups based on their areas of application.
The catalogs contain detailed information about cable construction, their performance properties, and intended applications.

Technical Guide

This Guide is a supplement to our catalogs. It is intended for customers and users of our cables and is designed to help in selecting cables for planned applications. It contains general technical information that is usually not included in data sheets. It describes the principles of cable construction and their components, the properties of the materials used, presents the characteristic features and performance properties of cables, and draws attention to the operating conditions to which they may be exposed during many years of service. For the reasons given above, this Guide also has the character of a handbook. For many readers, the glossary of basic technical terms included at the end of the Guide will also be useful.
This is already the third edition of the Guide. In preparing it, we took into account questions from customers and users of our cables. Compared to the previous, second edition, we have expanded the information provided in the following chapters:

  • we have supplemented and expanded the information on the division of the cables we manufacture into groups and on the properties of cables within the individual groups.
  • since our Guide is also used by users of power cables, we have expanded the information on the properties of copper conductors up to a cross-section of 240 mm2.
  • we have taken into account the requirements of the standard regarding the long-term current-carrying capacity of cables with copper conductors up to 240 mm2 for selected installation methods.
  • we have supplemented the information regarding the construction of cable armours based on the requirements of the standard and provided the requirements for concentric protective conductors.
  • a completely new chapter discussing issues related to electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility, providing practical information on transmission range and signal resistance to external interference in the various cable constructions we manufacture.
  • we have provided more details on selected methods of testing cable behavior under fire conditions.
  • we have included the currently applicable requirements regarding the transmission parameters of telecommunication cables.
